Magazine project- Schedule interviews/develop questions

In order to complete my magazine I will need to schedule interviews, and develop questions. It is a quintessential part of the magazine process.

As for interviews, I have met multiple designers throughout my 17 years on this Earth. I am involved in pageants and have had to had clothing pieces custom made for me before. I plan interviewing Caitlyn Kent. She is a designer that lives in Riverview,  Florida. She had been involved in Pageants since she was a young girl, and has run her own business for 4 years. Caitlyn has had some of her custom designs in New York Fashion Week! This is the highest level of exposure, and greatest honor as a designer.

Some of the questions I hope to ask include:

  • When did you start your business?
  • What made you want to be a designer?
  • How long have you been doing pageants?
  • What is your favorite custom piece you have ever designed?
  • What was it like having your designs be featured in New York Fashion Week?

The questions that will be asked are important to the reader because it allows for the audience to get an idea what it takes to be a fashion designer. Especially a designer that has had there pieces featured in New York Fashion Week. One of the most prestigious honors as a fashion designer. Anyone that is interested in fashion knows how big of a deal NYFW is, so Caitlyn is worth writing an article on.

I interviewed Caitlyn through social media. Specifically, Direct Message on Instagram. She lives an hour away from me, this was the most efficient way of communication. I simply asked the questions, explaining why I was asking for an interview, and she responded with all of the answers to my questions.

I also plan on doing an article on what it is like being an Model in everyday life. I hope to interview Nadia Hayes. She is signed with Wilhelmina Models in Miami, Florida. She can give the inside scoop on what the fashion, beauty, and modeling industry is really like. Also, gives the reader a chance to see if the modeling industry is really all glitz and glamour.

Some of the questions I hope to ask include:

  • How old where you when you started modeling?
  • How did you get into the modeling industry?
  • What is your typical day in your everyday life?
  • Are there any misconceptions about the modeling/fashion industry that you would like to talk about?
The reason this article would be important to the reader is that being a model is a dream job for fashion lovers. Interviewing Nadia and asking her some juicy questions about the industry would open up the reader to the truth. Also answering the questions that a reader might have had, but never got the opportunity to get answered.

I scheduled the interview With Nadia in person. We go to school together, so I see her everyday. I simply asked her the questions and then used my phone as a recorder to get all of the quotes.

Another person I hope to interview is Allan Mestal. He is a photographer in the Sarasota/Bradenton area in Florida. Allan has been a photographer for over twenty years, and varies in his style of photos. He is an activist that captures photos of homeless people to raise awareness. But also does photography for editorial looks.

The questions I hope to ask include:

  • What inspires you when taking pictures?
  • What is your favorite style of pictures to take?
  • What do you hope people see when looking at your pictures?
  • How did you get involved with
The question will be important to the reader because it will give a perspective of what life is like behind the camera. A side of the industry that most people do not know about. It is a major part of the fashion industry, and without photography, the material world would not be the same.

I interviewed Allan through email. I explained that I was creating a magazine for one of my classes and asked if I could interview him. Then I wrote the questions I wanted to asked and got a response with all of his answers.

The fourth and final person that I am considering to interview is Lily Sikorski, she is a golfer. I hope to write an article that focuses on powerful woman in the community that are making a positive impact. Since she plays golf, I figured that she is the perfect candidate. Also, can ask questions that deal with golf being a "mans" sport, and how she feels being a women in the game.

The questions I hope to ask are:

  • How is it being a women in a men sport?
  • What is your favorite part about golf?

  • What is the best memory you have about being a golfer?

I would interview Lily in person because I go to school with here and have classes with her throughout my day. It would be the most effective way of getting the information quickly. This interview would be important to the reader because it deals with fashion and also feminism.
